Yes, EVERYONE is an artist
Some of the most common things I hear when someone first reaches out to me or is just learning about art therapy are: “I can’t draw” or “I haven’t made art since I was in kindergarten” so is art therapy going to work for me?
Yes. A hundred times yes.
You might not think you’re particularly creative, talented, or even comfortable with making art and you can still do art therapy. This isn’t about making something pretty or impressive. You’re not getting graded and we aren’t making anything to hang in the Louvre. It’s about expressing what’s real—even if it’s messy, unclear, or hard to put into words.
Sometimes our feelings don’t come out easily through talking. Art gives them another way to surface. It can help you slow down, get curious, and gently meet yourself where you are. That might look like sketching, writing, coloring, scribbling, or even just choosing colors that reflect your mood.
When we work together, you’ll get your own art journal. It’s yours to use however feels meaningful. There’s no right or wrong way to use it. Some people fill pages with drawings. Some make collages from scraps of paper and textures. Some write words they’re not ready to say out loud yet. You get to decide what feels right.
Whether you’re navigating a big life shift, struggling with who you are, feeling disconnected from yourself…I want you to know this:
There’s space for all of you here, even the parts that feel unsure or confusing. You don’t need to be able to explain everything perfectly. You just need to show up.
And we’ll figure out the rest together.
