Room to Be Human
With me, you don’t have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have everything figured out in order to be here. You don’t need the right words or a clear starting point. We can figure it out together.
Many people come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or quietly unsure of themselves, even when everything looks “fine” on the outside. You might be used to holding things together, pushing through, or taking care of everyone else while feeling worn down inside.
This is a place to slow down and make sense of what you’ve been carrying, without pressure to fix, solve, or rush your way through it. Your experiences, questions, and emotions are welcome here, just as they are.
I’m not a quick-fix, worksheet kind of therapist. I care about understanding what’s underneath — the patterns, the self-doubt, and the “why am I like this?” moments — in a way that feels thoughtful, grounded, and manageable.
Therapy with me focuses on understanding your story and how your experiences have shaped the way you see yourself, your relationships, and your sense of belonging. This creates clarity and insight that support meaningful change, not just short-term coping.
Sessions tend to feel conversational and reflective, with space to explore emotions, patterns, identity, and self-worth, especially for people who appear capable and put-together on the outside while feeling overwhelmed or disconnected on the inside.
Our work is intentional and paced, with attention to both understanding and forward movement, guided by what feels most helpful and sustainable for you.
My Approach
I work with high school–aged teens, college students, and adults who are carrying a lot beneath the surface.
Many of the people I support are thoughtful, self-aware, and capable, yet feel weighed down by overthinking, internal pressure, or the sense that they have to hold everything together. Others come to therapy during periods of change, loss, or stress that have left them feeling disconnected from themselves or unsure where they belong.
I support individuals navigating grief, illness, chronic pain, caregiving roles, or end-of-life experiences — times when emotional weight often goes unseen or unspoken and can quietly shape how a person relates to themselves and the world around them.
This work tends to resonate with people who want understanding and depth, not quick fixes, and who are ready to explore themselves with honesty and care.
Who I Work With
A Space That Honors Difference
Therapy is approached with flexibility for different ways of thinking, feeling, communicating, and processing, and is informed by neurodivergent perspectives.
This is an LGBTQ+ inclusive practice, where identity, relationships, and questions of belonging can be explored with care and respect.
You don’t need to explain or justify who you are here. We work collaboratively, guided by your lived experience and what feels most supportive for you.
We might be a good fit if…
You’re tired of holding it all together
You overthink and second-guess yourself
You’re too hard on yourself and perfectionism runs the show
You feel “not enough”
You feel misunderstood or unseen
Your emotions feel like a lot
You shut down or feel numb when things feel too much
You’re burned out or emotionally stuck
You’re navigating grief or loss
Illness or caregiving has taken a toll
You feel different or out of place
You’re questioning who you are or where you belong
If something here resonates, you’re welcome to reach out when you feel ready.
About Me
I’m Lauren, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC) based in Anderson, South Carolina.
I decided to pursue art therapy as a way to combine my love of art and creative self-expression with my personal mission to support and encourage people as they navigate difficult seasons of life.
I specialize in supporting teens and young adults who are navigating life transitions, identity questions, and struggles with self-esteem. My style is down-to-earth and collaborative.
Outside of the therapy room, you’ll probably find me at home in my art studio with my three cats, Tess, Teddy, and Mitts, by my side- art journaling, painting, cross-stitching, getting my hands busy with some kind of project that’s definitely going to involve making a mess; snuggled up with my favorite latte and crocheted blankets reading a good book; or out in the yard tending to my first-ever vegetable garden.
Most of all, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and find the greatest joy and peace in the small moments and simple things life has to offer.
